Job Description Summary
This posting is for the Instrumentation Specialist position with the Global Performance Testing & Diagnostic organization, part of Gas Power Engineering. The Global Performance Test team executes highly technical services on Gas, Steam, and Combined Cycle plants both in the field and remotely. The successful execution of these global services requires that the team adhere to internal processes while being open to challenges that may arise. Instrumentation Specialists are responsible for installing temporary precision instrumentation and setting up data acquisition system to collect quality performance data as the foundation for the overall quality of service to our customers.Job Description
In this role you will:
Instrumentation specialists provide hands on support for thermal performance testing of steam and gas turbines at combined cycle power plants. While on site, the instrumentation specialist job is labor intensive and requires working at significant heights
The specialist is expected to execute or provide the technical direction for the installation of test instruments, to accurately measure the pressures, temperatures, flows, kilowatt outputs and emissions required to calculate the thermal performance of the unit(s)
Support development of testing critical competencies as well as to provide remote support to other instrumentation specialists if needed.
Support Tool/Template Development and Performance Root Cause Analysis
Occasionally will be the sole representative of the team while at site, being able to lead the onsite execution while coordinating with the remote engineering team
Job requires 70% travel to both domestic and international power plant sites. The duration of the field tests typically ranges from one (1) to (12) weeks. Instrumentation Specialists are on call and can be required to travel with little notice.
Job responsibilities may require working during varying shift schedules and in support of jobs in significantly different time zones.
Adhere to EHS excellence on all jobs performed at all times.

Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team
